We left at the crack of dawn because we were all exhausted and completely traumatised from the experience.

As a young women I felt extremely afraid, no locks on any door. The doorbell went off at least every 10mins throughout the early morning early with the hostel reception staff letting anyone that buzzed the doorbell in. The windows were left wide open to a very dangerous neighbourhood in Milan. The sheets were plastic and the blankets most definitely were not clean. I’ve never felt so sad and afraid for myself and the women around me. It was all bunk beds, no ladders, one bathroom between all 12 women. After a lengthy and quite honestly threatening experience with the male hostel staff retaining our phones and passports, my sister and I got placed in a room with 12 other beds, no power and no locks. To start, we couldn’t contact the hostel in any way, their number rings out and there’s no email. I’ve never felt so unsafe somewhere in my life. I stayed in this hotel with my sister and friend at the weekend, we booked it weeks in advance - we didn’t expect a five star hotel but this was absolutely disgraceful, vile and putrid. I vehemently urge you to not stay in this place.
